Seeds of Sovereignty

What is Seeds of Sovereignty?

Seeds of Sovereignty was created together by Indigenous peoples. It is about Indigenous food sovereignty: advancing our traditional food ways, embedded in deep gratitude and connection to the land, waters, and all beings. It means hunting, fishing, trapping, harvesting, gathering, and growing food in the ways our families have always done. It means teaching youth, respecting Elders, and protecting the lands and waters that sustain us.

Seeds of Sovereignty was shaped through gatherings of Indigenous Community Food Centres and Right To Food’s Indigenous Network. Participants shared stories, reflections, and recommendations that were brought together in a living brief and a short film, both released in fall 2025.
